This isn’t the first time I’m watching Borgen (The Government), Danish TV series about politics. I have already seen it in TV, tho not from the start. I liked it, so I decided to watch it from season 1.
The story revolves about Brigitte Nyborg, the first female Prime Minister, who got elected in 2010. The TV series proceeded the reality. Helle Thorning-Schmidt got elected as the first female Prime Minister in the end of 2011. At that time the series were already in the second season.
There isn’t much I can write about the series. It’s addicting right through the first series. It addresses many of the actual (or actual in the past) problems and gives a look from the kitchen at doing politics. It’s reliable in this. What I like in the TV series is that it relates to the issues important not only to the Denmark, but to the other countries as well. Of course, I can’t hide that I like the fact that a woman is leading the country and we get to see how she and her family cope with this responsibility. If you don’t like politics, watch this show. It’s really good. If you like politics, all the more reasons to watch it.
If you have watched Eurovision 2014, you might remember one of the hosts, Pilou Asbæk, from the series. In Borgen he plays the Prime Minister’s spin doctor. Don’t worry, he’s a better actor than the host.
