European Music Contests May 2014

May 2014 is definitely filled with European music. Music from all over Europe.

There are two Europe-wide contests going on. First one, EuroMusic Contest 2014 is online one, second – Eurovision is TV-based.

EuroMusic Contest 2014

If you read my blog often, you probably saw some posts about EuroMusic Contest 2014 already. I presented musicians from Ukraine, Poland, Greece, Austria, Iceland and Romania.

Until 10th May you can vote on your favourite artists, from all over Europe. The top artists from 40 countries will be then judged by jury and in the end 10 artist will stand on final stage in Paris.

Seventh band comes from…

Norway

Malice in Wonderland

Rock band from Bergen.

Eurovision 2014

First Eurovision contest was held in 1956, in Switzerland. This year it’s held in Copenhagen, Denmark.

There are 2 semi-finals (16 countries in each) and 20 of them along with 6 countries (hosting country and the 5 founding countries) will take part in the final on 10th May. 10th May, again!

On 6th May, during 1st semi-final, I selected 10 songs which I liked. 7 of them were voted for final. All 1st semi-final 2014 songs are online on official Eurovision website

Final songs (common 7)

In the same order as during the contest.

Armenia

Aram MP3 – Not Alone

Sweden

Sanna Nielsen – Undo

Iceland

Pollapönk – No Prejudice

Russia

Tolmachevy Sisters – Shine

Azerbaijan

Dilara Kazimova – Start a Fire

Montenegro

Sergej Ćetković – Moj Svijet

It’s worth noting that this is (so far) the only pre-Eurovision artist that I know and like. Sergej Ćetković  was one of the musicians from former Yugoslavia that I presented in November 2013.

Hungary

András Kállay-Saunders – Running

The songs I like but they didn’t get to final

Albania

Hersi – One Night’s Anger

Moldova

Cristina Scarlat – Wild Soul

Portugal

Suzy – Quero Ser Tua

The Rest

The songs that got into final, which I didn’t like were performed by artists from: San Marino, Ukraine and The Netherlands.

That leaves out the songs of: Latvian, Estonian and Belgium artist. All six songs you can see on the official website or YouTube channel.

Which songs do you like? Will you watch 2nd semi-final (Thursday, with Polish artists) and final of Eurovision? Did you vote in the EuroMusic Contest 2014?
